RISE V2G is a practical technology that helps to develop charging devices that meet the international ISO 15118 standard. In addition, the explanations given via email and in his ISO 15118 Manual tremendously minimize the developers’ confusion about the difficult parts of the international standard itself. As a 1st tier supplier of several automotive OEMs (e.g. VW, Daimler, Porsche, BMW, Audi) we develop various electronic control units, including OnBoard-Chargers (AC / DC). Due to the high effort to set up this EVSE simulation, however, I decided to deploy RISE V2G to a RaspberryPi, which is an affordable system-on-chip Linux system. A QCA7000 chip is connected via SPI to the RaspberryPi. RISE V2G is running in parallel with Oracle Java for the ISO 15118 communication. This significantly reduces our costs and scales way better to set up various test sites across our department.
