As a 1st tier supplier of several automotive OEMs (e.g. VW, Daimler, Porsche, BMW, Audi) we develop various electronic control units, including OnBoard-Chargers (AC / DC). Due to the high effort to set up this EVSE simulation, however, I decided to deploy RISE V2G to a RaspberryPi, which is an affordable system-on-chip Linux system. A QCA7000 chip is connected via SPI to the RaspberryPi. RISE V2G is running in parallel with Oracle Java for the ISO 15118 communication. This significantly reduces our costs and scales way better to set up various test sites across our department.

Over the last decade, I have become a recognized e-mobility expert after developing the widely-used RISE V2G software and co-authoring the ISO 15118 and related international standards. I now work with companies and research institutions across the globe to integrate RISE V2G and ISO 15118’s promising Plug & Charge feature into their products and innovations.

While I was working on my Ph.D. in computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), I became a member of the prestigious German DIN standardization committee. Since then, my mission has been to help bring convenient, secure, and user-friendly electric vehicle charging to a global audience.

I genuinely believe ISO 15118 and Plug & Charge will transform electric vehicle charging.
